Mealime is closing. Here's a UK alternative.
Mealime shuts down on 21 October 2026. If you used it to plan your week, here's what's happening, what to save before it closes, and how MealPlanned compares.
What's happening to Mealime
- Mealime will be discontinued on 21 October 2026. It has been owned by Albertsons Companies, a US supermarket group, since 2021, and its users are being moved to Albertsons' free Meals Hub.
- All personal data will be deleted when the app shuts down. Mealime's announcement doesn't mention a way to export it, and account information can't be moved to Meals Hub.
- Pro features are free until the shutdown, and Pro subscribers won't be charged again.
- Mealime's recipes will stay available on Meals Hub, through Albertsons' store apps and websites.

What to do before 21 October
- Save the recipes you cook most. Your saved recipes and meal plans go when your account is deleted, so copy out or screenshot the ones you want to keep.
- Write down your settings: your diet, allergies, dislikes and serving sizes. You'll want them in whichever planner you move to.
- You don't need to cancel Pro. Mealime says Pro subscribers won't be charged any more fees before the shutdown.
Meals Hub, or something else?
If you're in the US and shop at an Albertsons store, Meals Hub is the obvious next step: it's free and has all of Mealime's recipes. It's built around Albertsons' US supermarkets, though, so if you're in the UK you may want a planner made for British kitchens and shops.
How MealPlanned works

- Your own recipesAdd the recipes you saved from Mealime as your own, and the planner can use them in your plans.
- Allergies and diets respectedVegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and more. Every planned meal fits.
- Nutrition at a glanceCalories, protein, carbs and fat for every recipe and every day of your plan.
- Made for the UKMetric quantities and British ingredient names: courgettes, aubergines and tins of chickpeas.
To be upfront: Mealime was a polished app with years behind it. MealPlanned is new, in beta, and made by one developer. It's a web app, so it works in any browser on your phone or computer, and you can add it to your home screen.
What it costs
MealPlanned is free during the beta. Afterwards it will become a subscription at no more than £4.99 a month, with discounts for 6 and 12 months. You won't be charged unless you choose a plan yourself, and you can export or delete your data at any time.
Plan your first week
Setting up takes a few minutes. Add your allergies and preferences, and your first week is ready to go.
